Most of you are not thrilled with Windows 11

Microsoft presented all the new features of Windows 11, the new generation of its operating system. For some, it's just a modernized version of Windows 10, for others the changes are significant. This is the subject of our survey of the week.

That's it, Windows 11 was officially unveiled to the world this Thursday, June 24th. It should be available next fall. It has been 6 years since Microsoft released a major update to its OS. There was even talk at one time of no longer making a new version, and that Windows 10 would become a service.

This is what some critics say about this new version. Some believe that it is still Windows 10, or even Windows 10.5. It is also true that some of the new features indeed focus on cosmetic aspects of the OS, such as the new design of its file explorer, or its new taskbar.

Beta soon

But not only. The Microsoft Store has been completely reworked, as has its new very advantageous commercial policy for developers, which aims to attract as many developers as possible.

Most of you don't aren't thrilled with Windows 11

To be sure, it may still be better to install the Windows 11 beta by joining the Windows Insider program (perhaps avoid doing this on your main machine as a precaution). For those who don't want to take any risks or who prefer to wait, it will be possible to get their hands on the new version of the OS this fall. !

Interesting little surprises

One of the big surprises of the evening was the arrival of Android applications on Windows 11. Another rather attractive new feature for video game enthusiasts: Game Pass and xCloud will be natively integrated into the Xbox app.

Windows 11 therefore has a lot of things in store that might interest users on other operating systems.

It is therefore in this context that we asked your opinion on the new version of Windows.

Windows 11: were you convinced by the new features?

Nearly a third of you, or 31.8%, consider Windows 11 more of a Windows 10.5 version than anything else. But not all of you seem to agree. In this case, the second and third scores of our survey are monopolized by the most enthusiastic responses: "Yes, I want to test the beta" wins 22.7% support, and "Yes, I'm waiting for the release without testing the beta ” 20.2%. Just behind, in fourth place, we find the cautious " No, I'm waiting for feedback " and its 13.4%. Finally, in last place 12% of the votes go to those who simply do not want to use the Microsoft OS.

The issue of Windows 11 compatibility has occupied a good part of your debates in comments. A first comment is concerned that its processor, "an i5-7200, from a PC I bought in the fall of 2017", may not be compatible. Tabo56 is reassuring: "Microsoft is not going to leave millions of PCs incompatible. Let the old dinosaur realize his mistake. »

And of course, it's the question of the depth of this major update that has you most excited. Dams is more in the camp that thinks this is a real update. "Obviously it's a new version. The interface redesign alone justifies it," he wrote. "The support for Android applications is also a strong marker that will make use less dependent on the browser for the general public. Asuka Bardiel, more pessimistic, asks "how long" it will take to correct "the error". He adds: "As it started, we're on bad Microsoft times..." And our reader quotes without saying the famous rule of "one OS out of two bad at Microsoft" by reading the name of the versions often considered as bad: "Millennium, Vista, Windows 8..."
