In 2021, the wireless headphone war rages on. The prices are only increasing and it is easy to spend more than 100 euros to have a good pair of headphones. With its Elite 3, the Jabra brand is positioned in the mid-range, while offering a very interesting technical sheet and the expertise of a high-end brand.

Summary

Unboxing and design

With Jabra, it's no surprise: the packaging is excellent. It is simple, clean and very effective. We find the headphones in a cardboard box, completely recycled. A good point for the environment, which shows the commitment of the brand. A minimalist box, which takes up the main characteristics of the product. Inside, there is of course the box, with the headphones, 2 pairs of additional tips of different sizes and the USB-C cable for charging.

A design, therefore, simple and refined. The case is relatively small, which is a really good point, especially for me who likes to put my headphones in my pocket. The headphones and the cover are magnetic, which adds a certain comfort of use.

A small negative point: the quality of the materials of the case is not very good. This defect is of course explained by the price of the headphones. It was especially the hinge that did not necessarily inspire me with confidence at first. Even so, I had no problems during the entire testing and writing period.

Audio quality

For the audio quality: it's excellent. Nothing to say about that. The sound is really clear, clean and the bass is present, without being sizzling. The headphones offer really impressive listening quality, for less than 100 euros. Even pushed to full volume, the sound remains well balanced. A maximum volume, quite bluffing by the way.

Jabra provides us with the Elite 3, a dedicated application: Jabra Sound+. It is quite basic, but allows you to choose between 5 different settings, to personalize your listening a little more. Other presets will be added to those already present, in an upcoming update. These settings are quite interesting, but I find it unfortunate that there is no "Personal" mode. It's always nice to be able to manually adjust bass, treble and other sound characteristics. I really hope this feature will come soon.

Noise reduction

Now let's talk about noise reduction. On these headphones, no ANC. Despite everything, the noise reduction is effective on these Jabra Elite 3. As soon as you wear the headphones to your ears, you feel well isolated from outside noise. You will almost not hear a person talking to you 2 or 3 meters away, without music. And as soon as the music starts, you will hear absolutely no sound.

The Jabra Elite 3 have a transparency mode called “HearTrough”. The latter activates the 4 microphones present on the headphones (I will tell you about it in the next chapter) and thus allows you to hear the noises around you or a person who is talking to you. This mode is quite effective, as it isolates voices well and does not pick up all ambient noise. If a car is passing on the street, for example, and you are talking to your brother, the earphones will isolate his voice only well and will not make you hear the noises of the car.

I was quite amazed by the quality of this transparency mode, a technology that is still quite "gimmicky" on headphones in this price range.

Microphone

You walk down the street with your music in your ears. All of a sudden, your phone starts ringing. You answer and your interlocutor does not understand anything, because the microphones of your headphones are of poor quality. Annoying, right? Well this is not the case with the Jabra Elite 3.

These earphones have 4 microphones distributed over the two earphones. Two microphones per side therefore, which do an admirable job. Your voice is impeccably isolated from ambient noise. Your interlocutor will understand you perfectly. An excellent point for headphones that remain, remember, below 100 euros.

Comfort

Once again, the Jabra Elite 3 do very well on this point. The headphones fit well in the ears, even when running or shaking your head. They come with 3 different sizes of tips, a good point. They are comfortable to wear and do not hurt the ears, even after a long time of listening.

Battery life

28 hours of battery life, including 7 hours on a single headphone charge. It's just perfect. Even if there are better on the market, it is a largely sufficient and acceptable autonomy for this price range. The case allows you to recharge the earphones 4 times. And it is also Quick Charge compatible: the Elite 3 headphones gain 1 hour of listening time, in just 10 minutes of charging. Unfortunately, this box is not compatible with wireless charging, a bit disappointing, especially since this technology is becoming more and more popular.

Jabra Elite 3 test: review

I simply loved these Jabra Elite 3. They have all the qualities of a high-end pair of headphones, at a very attractive price. The design and packaging are very successful, the sound is excellent, the noise reduction (even without ANC) is quite impressive and the dedicated application is simple, but effective.

Jabra Elite 3 Review: Reviews

The Jabra Elite 3 are perfect headphones: excellent battery life, a reasonable case size and good fit in the ears. Add to that powerful bass and customization at the rendezvous, all for less than 100 euros! However, we can notice the absence of wireless charging and poor quality materials. Reasonable compromises for my taste.
