PARIS: More than 500 billion tonnes of virgin materials have been used in the world since the 2015 climate agreement, of which less than 10% are then recycled, warns a report published on Wednesday, for which the world neglects the climate impact of its appetite for the consumption of goods.

Construction, food, means of transport... 70% of greenhouse gas emissions are today linked to manufacturing production and the use of the goods produced, according to the annual report of the Circle Economy on material consumption.

For these researchers, the climate commitments of States often focus on emissions linked to fossil fuels, forgetting the growing appetite for products of all kinds. Only a third of these promises mention the circular economy in their objectives.
