Test Realme GT Neo 2: The Android gaming smartphone that has a big one!

Test Realme GT Neo 2: The Android gaming smartphone that has a big one!

Will anyone manage to stop the Realme compressor roll? The Chinese brand continues to multiply the outputs. After the very good GT Master Edition, it is the turn of the Realme GT Neo 2 to arrive in France with a quality/price ratio that has something to tremble the best Android smartphones on the market. We took it in hand for several days, here is our opinion.

  • 8 Autonomy
  • 9 Conclusion
  • Like the Master Edition, the GT Neo 2 seeks to be more affordable than the Realme GT 5G, the brand of the brand. However, he has big assets in his round and risks making a lot of shadow for competition.

Realme GT NEO 2: Technical specifications

The Android smartphone comes to the bridge between the GT 5G and the GT Master Edition.Less well equipped than the first, it should however daming the pawn in the second in terms of pure power. The newcomer is the largest of the brand's smartphones.

Here is what he has in his stomach:

The Realm smartphone is relatively imposing. As often, the Asian brand prefers to bet on performance rather than the finest design possible. An often paying bet.

Realme GT NEO 2 abandons the micro-SD port and headphone jack to adopt instead a bigger battery than on the GT Master Edition. The photo part remains unchanged. In fact, the selfie camera is even less well equipped than on the more entry -level model.Let it be said: the GT Neo 2 is above all intended for players who have a slightly tight budget.

Moreover, this Android phone has a cooling system based on thermal dough containing "diamond particles" which is sold to us as revolutionary.Hopefully the promise of long hours of game without overheating is kept!

    Price

Realme GT Neo 2 is halfway between the GT Master Edition and the GT 5G.Resolutely turned towards the middle of the range, it can buy for the sum of € 449 for the 8/128 GB version and goes up to € 549 for the 12/256 Go version.

With such prices, Realme clearly seeks to walk on Xiaomi flower beds, often quoted as a mid-range reference.Such competition can only do good at the market!

    Design and finishes

Realm smartphones are often flashy. For the GT Neo 2, the Chinese brand is back to something more sober.Goodbye flashy (and messy) shells. We now have a pretty matte black shell that catches much less the fingerprints than before.Only the photo module detonates with its imposing size.It comes out quite a lot, which will often prevent the smartphone flat on a table as often.

No surprise on the buttons side. They fall perfectly under the fingers. They seem well integrated and do not move in all directions, although we feel a slight game.If necessary, Realme provides a silicone shell in the box.In this way, you will be assured that your GT NEO 2 will resist most of the shocks.

Test realme GT Neo 2 : le smartphone gaming Android qui a tout d’un grand !

It is on the side of the connection that the main disappointment takes place.Realme GT Neo 2 is indeed devoid of micro-SD port and headphone jack.It thus follows in the footsteps of high -end devices which tend to strip from year to year ...

On the handling side, we stay on a big phone. The GT Neo 2 is the most imposing realme smartphones at present and it feels. It weighs no less than 202 grams (without the silicone shell).Suffice to say that you are not likely to forget it in the pocket given its overweight!

    Screen

As I said above, the Realme GT Neo 2 has the largest screen ever produced by the Chinese brand.Like any mid -range Android smartphone, it has a Super Amoled slab of 6.62 ’’ with a Full HD+ definition. The fingerprint reader is also placed under this slab.

Unsurprisingly, the rendering is excellent even if it does not reach the precision of the very high -end models. The screen sometimes shoots blue when you look too much, but it is fortunately very light. You will therefore enjoy magnificent contrasts and very bright colors.

Default balancing is a little too cold.Fortunately, it is quickly adjusted in the settings.

The brightness is also very well managed.Realme GT Neo 2 is perfectly usable in broad daylight and will not damage the retina to you in the evening.Cherry on the cake, we take advantage of a very efficient and comfortable 120 Hz refreshment.

    Interface

Having already tested Realme Ui several times, I will not make you the affront to describe you once again this Android overlay.I therefore invite you to reread my tests from Realme 7, Realme 8 and Realme 8i to find out more.

To sum up, we are on an Android Stock look with a lot of personalization options.Realme Ui is reminiscent of Oxygen OS in his approach, which is very pleasant. There is only the presence of Bloatware which cools the first approach a little ...

    Photography

Realme was very discreet on the photo part of his GT NEO 2 during the official presentation.Should we expect a massacre in good standing? Not really and that's good. It's just that the manufacturer has not made the sensors move from an iota since the release of the GT 5G and the GT Master Edition.

The Realme GT Neo 2 therefore recovers the trio 64 MP + 8 MP + 2 MP already seen on its elders. The whole produces correct shots but does not make flames either. The 64 MP main sensor is doing well for day photos, with fairly marked accentuation on colors, Samsung way.We note the colorful color difference compared to the Grand Angle which offers a wiser (and realistic) palette.

Finally, it is the macro sensor that sins once again. He finds it difficult to make details precise, to the point that we will forget it quickly.Same song for the portrait mode which has trouble managing the most complex scenes.Realme GT Neo 2 is not a competition photophone, you are warned!

    Performance

If it has not all powerful Snapdragon 888 of Realme GT 5G, the GT Neo 2 is nonetheless very efficient thanks to the use of Snapdragon 870.This mid -range SOC offers excellent services.

The Android smartphone is therefore very fluid on a daily basis. The 120 Hz screen reinforces this feeling. You don't feel the impression of being limited, even when you push the device in its entrenchments. The multi-jack does not slow the least the world the gt neo 2.It’s a real pleasure to use this smartphone!

We find these excellent impressions during gaming. The GT Neo 2 is aimed above all for players and it feels. In addition to the "GT mode" that boosts performance, we benefit from improved cooling. In use, the smartphone heats very little.Even after several tens of minutes on a demanding title as a human impact we do not note a drastic fall in performance. We are far from the throttling of Samsung devices that were spoiling the pleasure of play!

    Multimedia

In the absence of a headphone jack, you will have to be satisfied with the stereo speakers of the GT Neo 2 or go through Bluetooth intras to enjoy your favorite music/videos.

The sound rendering of the speakers is quite average. We clearly feel accentuation on mediums and bass completely anemic. We have already seen better in this price range ...

    Autonomy

Realme GT Neo 2 is not only efficient but also very enduring. The Chinese smartphone is indeed equipped with two 2,500 mAh batteries (5000 mAh in total) which ensure very good autonomy.

The machine will be able to accompany you throughout the day, even with a maximum of options activated such as 120 Hz refreshment.Unless you are addicted to video games and use GT mode permanently, you will not see the end of the battery before evening at night.

More moderate users will even make the charge last for about 48 hours. As always, Realme offers us a very enduring smartphone. And if necessary, recharging at 65W is still as practical. In less than 40 minutes, the full is done!

    Conclusion

Like the GT Master Edition, the Realme GT Neo 2 is an excellent surprise. This mid -range smartphone clearly does not have to be ashamed of the competition twice as expensive.

As powerful as it is enduring, Realme's Android phone will be ideal for gaming enthusiasts who do not necessarily have the means to invest in devices with Snapdragon 8888.The large AMOLED 120 Hz screen will also be a great asset for intense play sessions.

Apart from its fairly pronounced congestion, we will be able to reproach Realme GT Neo 2 the absence of a headphone jack and a micro-SD port. The photo part also remains behind.Defects that are not unacceptable, especially given the fairly content price of this Android phone.
