Nantes: From the most monumental to the most volatile, 23 new works mark out the trip to Nantes 2021

A shipwreck, Place Royale, a roller-skating track at the foot of the Graslin theatre, a perfume to choose from or even a beaver looking down on passers-by in the city centre, these are some of the new works that the people of Nantes and tourists will be able to discover, until September 12.

And here we go for the tenth Voyage to Nantes!

Throughout the 22 kilometers of the green line that criss-crosses Nantes, the VAN now has 64 stages.

A journey punctuated by various works, exhibitions, installations, some permanent others not, which are intended to surprise, intrigue, amuse, dazzle, and also make you think.

This is the case with the work, as majestic as it is monstrous, by Marseilles artist Ugo Schiavi, which ran aground in Place Royale.

Nantes: from the most monumental to the more volatile, 23 new works mark the Voyage à Nantes 2021

A wreck 17 meters long, as if torn in two, rusty, whose perforated hull lets water ooze from the fountain on which it has come to be embedded.

A ruin, which evokes current or past migrations, and the triangular trade that has marked the history of the city, giving it its prosperity.

The "Shipwreck of Neptune" gives the Place Royale a little air of the end of the world... hard not to see an allegory of the inevitable shipwreck of humanity in the grip of climatic and ecological disasters.

See this report produced by Richard Coffin and Denis Leroy, it reveals some of the new things to discover as part of the Voyage à Nantes until September 12.

From gigantic to the most subtle, the VAN stuns our senses... thus, and this is a first, visitors will be able to vote for the perfume that best embodies the city, by delivering their nostrils to three different scents composed by three famous noses. The chosen fragrance will be marketed at the end of 2021.
