Instagram will put the chronological order back in 2022

The chronological order will return to Instagram, but it will have to wait until 2022. Adam Mosseri, the boss of the social network, mentioned this novelty during his hearing before the American Congress. This concerns the safety of young people.

The return of a feature that disappeared five years ago

“We are currently working on a version of the timeline which we hope to launch next year,” said the boss of Instagram, adding that the company has been working on this feature "for months". He didn't give additional details on how it will work, but said the company is targeting the first quarter of next year for a launch.

Instagram already offered such a feed when it launched. Photos (there was no video support at the time) appeared from newest to oldest. Since 2016, the social network has used an algorithm that alone determines the order of the content displayed. This is based on several factors, including the number of interactions.

Instagram will reset chronological order 2022

You should know that the chronological order is no longer available since the implementation of the algorithm. This bothers many users, knowing that some publications are sometimes missed. Also, the order chosen is sometimes debatable.

It is possible that Instagram does like Twitter, namely to offer the option of chronological order and the option for the algorithm. We suspect that the latter will not suddenly disappear. The answer will be known in early 2022.
