[Edit] Smartphones - 6 ways to protect them - Android -France

The Android and me blog published a very interesting article on the different ways to protect your smartphone.Smartphones being more and more complex and, often, more and more expensive, I thought it might interest some of you.Being a fanatic of protection (and autonomy too, you will have noticed), I allowed myself to add some details.

NOT’emmenez pas votre smartphone à la plage !

Unless you are equipped with a Sony Xperia Z-style water-resistant smartphone, refrain from taking your mobile during your sea getaway. The water would be fatal to him, for sure, but the sand, by infiltrating or rubbing on your screen, could also cause him damage.Think about every time you ended up with sand between the buttocks ... (how is that, "what's the relationship"?)?

NOTe mettez pas votre smartphone et vos clés dans la même poche

Like the sand, the keys love destroy smartphone screens (and my glasses, incidentally). So take care to leave your keys far, very far from your little gem: the Gorilla Glass has its limits!

Phones and bathrooms/bathrooms do not go well together

If there is one thing that is more likely to happen in the life of a man than in that of a woman, it is good to drop her smartphone in the toilet.Just as for the beach, if you do not have a waterproof mobile, it will not be unscathed ...

Also avoid leaving it lying around in your bathroom, humidity and condensation, electronic components do not love it.

Take out

A slightly extreme and rather expensive solution: to ensure your laptop.Personally, I don't like the idea of paying even more for a smartphone that has already cost you quite expensive, but if you are very clumsy at the base, it can be used.

Operators very often have break -in or theft insurance formulas, but don't rush into their nets too quickly!

Insurance companies also offer formulas and some of them integrate it into their home insurance.

So if you are considering this solution, remember above all to contact your insurer, you could be surprised!

NOT.B.: this type of insurance generally only covers thefts with violence.

Buy screen protection

Screen protections, my obsession!Since I went in XXL format, the installation has become a real obstacle course.Like covers, screen protections can never be used ... or save your screen!

[EDIT] Smartphones - 6 façons de les protéger - Android-France

Small anecdote: time of my HTC Sensation, I had bought and posed screen protection. One day, I took it out of my handbag and I discovered that something (I suspect one of my pens) had rubbed against the screen and completely lacerated protection.Fortunately, the screen was intact (like that, I was able to resell it for a maximum of Thuns, ha ha ha!).

A little advice: do not buy anything!Poor quality screen protections are the most difficult to install. Some of them decrease the visibility of your screen, others have a downright shady touch. There is at least one safe value (if you know others, I am interested): Brando, which offers resistant, washable, repositionable films and, recently, tempered glass protections (if one of youhas already tested one, I'm also interested).

[Edit] User experiences drawn from the comments

Personally I swear by Xtremeguard for screens protection: http: // www.XTREMEGUARD.com/

They land with water, suddenly 0 bubbles and no hassle to align it well!In addition, they are super resistant. The only little drawback that I would give them is the time they put to become really transparent and have a super soft touch, but once this period has passed, only happiness!

Spigen brand tempered glass screen protection for my S4.0.15mm of pure happiness.Almost a better slide than the screen itself and no negative effect on transparency or color rendering. They really have very good accessories. And for this screen protection, the installation is quite simple. To do in a bathroom after taking a hot shower which prevents dust and particles from flying and dropping off on the screen when installing.😉

For my part, I found a great solution for screen protection: liquid-armmor, a spray or a wipe to apply on the screen every 4 months and twice as resistant as a classic protection! I'Use for 10 months on my tablets and my note and no scratches!

Buy a cover

This is my favorite part, the one I wanted to detail a little more.We don't always think of buying this kind of protection for your mobile, either because you don't especially see its interest, or because you like the finesse and/or the design of your device.I can't do anything for the first, the others, on the other hand, know that there is something for everyone, and the new appearance of your dressed smartphone may well please you!

So let's summarize the different types of protection.

The case

Basic but effective, the case protects your smartphone to perfection. It can be opened as in the photo or closed, most of the time, by a tab.Practical to slide your smartphone without fear in your bag, a little less if this smartphone is equipped with an LED of notification ...

The valve/flap cover

This cover also provides complete protection to the smartphone, but unlike the case, the smartphone is not supposed to leave it since the screen and the buttons are accessible. This type of cover can be closed from top or bottom.

Tip #1: If you choose the closure from the top, prefer those where the tongue is on the flap, under penalty of spending your time maintaining it so that it does not come and hide your screen, but especially your earpiece.Tip #2: Avoid covers that consist of a glued plastic shell which still adds thickness to the whole

The (real) portfolio cover

It presents itself as the flap cover, but the closure is done on the side.Other models bear this name, but for me, the real portfolio cover is the one that really serves as a wallet ...

Advice: as far as I am concerned, I never wanted to test these covers because the smartphone seems to me quite difficult to handle ... in one hand.In addition, you have to want to display your papers and bank cards every time you want to consult your smartphone!

Shell

Rigid, semi-rigid or flexible, the shell will protect the outline and back of your device. My favorites are those in silicone, which allow more fantasies and are easy to remove. In addition, they add a little side adhering to the mobile.I am not saying that your smartphone will not fly out the window when you have fun drifting by leaving it on the dashboard, but it is better than nothing!

Tip #1: It is no longer a warning, in fact: transparent shells tend to color!

The anecdote that is fine: I had ordered on eBay a silicone shell that I thought transparent, but which was to be transparent around and slightly opaque on the back (I should not be awake ...).

The bumper

Take a shell, cut your back, and here is your bumper! This accessory will offer you the minimum union in terms of protection while distorting a little less the design of the phone. It is true that smartphones most often tend to come across their corners, but I am ready to bet that if I bought one, the same day my cell phone would escape my hands and would go to bump against a completely different corner: that of a wrought iron table ...

The sock

I immediately see your eyes slightly wide and your eyebrow raised, yes, the sock is always of this world and also offers a little protection to your enrollings. Not expensive, it is unfortunately not very safe since the mobile is only very slightly maintained and the screen much less protected than with a rigid cover.

Tip: If you plan to take a real old sock to wrap your smartphone, know that you have really touched the bottom. If you want to go up a few millimeters, do like me: knit it, your sock!😀
