Our opinion on the Asus TUF566HC-HN082T

With its sober design in appearance, the Asus TUF566HC-HN082T is a 15-inch gaming laptop that can also be suitable for general-purpose use. It houses a GeForce RTX 3050 Ampere, a recent graphics card that can run all AAA titles, but also a powerful 11th generation Core i7 Octo Core backed by good capacity SSD storage (512 GB) for system responsiveness and by 16 GB of RAM. Everything is complemented by conveniences such as the 144Hz IPS screen, the multi-color backlit keyboard in one area or easy access to components, but expect to see temperatures and noise rise in-game.

The Asus TUF566HC-HN082T against the competition

The Asus TUF566HC-HN082T may not be the most competitive at the moment in our comparison, but it stands out thanks to its recent Intel Octo Core processor.

Chassis, connectors, screen of the Asus Gaming F15 TUF566HC-HN082T

Asus is giving a facelift to its TUF line, which broadly retains the aesthetic achievements of last year's TUF505/TUF565. This design between sobriety and intimidation updates a structured shell with abrupt angles and a few touches of color (lighting). The case is completely black (anthracite) with a screen-printed design element on the back of the cover for a discreet look without really being so. The frame is made from polycarbonate with the localized use of metallic finish metal on the back of the cover.

Asus F15 TUF566HC-HN082T, PC portable gamer 15 pouces puissant et polyvalent avec RTX 3050 (1299€)

On this subject, Asus has developed its TUF line by taking robustness and durability as a common thread. The Asus Gaming TUF566HC-HN082T thus meets the military standard MIL-STD-810G for unfailing solidity (extreme heat, shock, fall, humidity, altitude, exposure to the sun). The keyboard has been reworked with the same in mind with an estimated lifespan of 20 million keystrokes for each key. It sports a multi-color backlight with underlined ZQSD keys.

Now let's talk measurements. A slight compaction is visible thanks to advanced work on the screen borders. The weight is optimized around 2.3 kg and the thickness is 24.9 mm to leave some room for the components to express themselves.

The screen is on a 15.6-inch bright Full HD IPS matte panel with a refresh rate of 144Hz, enough to enjoy a vivid rendering in action. Following the trend, it opts for an immersive edge-to-edge side design, a feeling amplified by the IPS panel and its wide viewing angles. In addition, the Full HD definition (1920 x 1080 px) is the most suitable for gamers and allows you to get the most out of your High Definition content while the anti-reflective treatment prevents ambient light from reflecting on the screen, improving playing comfort (especially in dark scenes).

The connectors also receive an update (finally). We note in particular the arrival of a versatile USB 3.2 Type-C Gen2 port, added to the three USB 3.2 ports. An HDMI 2.0b output, a Gigabit Ethernet port and a headphone jack complete the selection mainly gathered on the left side of the PC. The SD card reader is still not on the program but the wireless modules are state-of-the-art (Wifi ax and Bluetooth 5.2).

Performance, autonomy of the Asus Gaming F15 TUF566HC-HN082T

The Asus Gaming F15 TUF566HC-HN082T is gaining momentum to discover its graphics card entrusted to the new NVIDIA Ampere GeForce RTX 3050 (2021). This is a mid-range solution recently released in the Ampere range which is intended to supplant the GTX 1650 and GTX 1660 Ti in entry-level gaming PCs. This RTX 3050 has the particularity of having Ray Tracing technology for a more realistic and fluid rendering in games. A step below the RTX 3060 obviously, this new card should roughly equate to a GTX 1660 Ti to benefit fairly demanding gamers and creatives in compatible applications.

Now let's see what the PC has in store. Based on the Core i7-11800H Octo Core processor (2021), the PC offers substantially the same performance or even a little more than a previous generation Core i9-10875H (10th). Overall, this results in a complete and easy management of the versatile use composed of video editing, 3D animation, programming or parallelization, with complex calculations. The 16 GB RAM in front is comfortable and offers enough flexibility in multitasking, enough to ensure the next few years.

Opposite, the storage is entrusted to a 512 GB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD which will bring a welcome dose of responsiveness to the system. Compared to a standard mechanical hard disk, it is quieter, more robust and more energy-efficient and allows Windows to achieve a remarkable level of fluidity with short loading times and execution without latencies. What's more, its capacity is not ridiculous and can accommodate a good part of your toy library even if some may not find it sufficient.

Let's finish with the autonomy of this TUF F15 on which Asus has reduced the battery capacity to 48Whr. This should limit autonomy to 5 hours maximum in Internet browsing with active WiFi.
