PhonAndroid the Xbox will automatically turn off the sound of your TV when you plug in a headset

Microsoft has just released an update for its insiders with a new feature expected by the community since the console was released. It solves one of the biggest problems for players who regularly use helmets.

As part of its Alpha Skip-Ahead program for Xbox insiders, Microsoft has deployed a feature that allows you to automatically turn off the sound of your speakers or TV if you plug in a headset. This is something that the PS5 has been doing for a long time, but Microsoft has never made it available on its console until now.

So far, when you plug a headset into your Xbox, whether a wired or wireless headset, your TV or speakers will continue to restore sound, yet it is now also available in your headset. Players, for example, had to turn off the sound of their television so as not to hear their games duplicated. Fortunately, it is now known that this problem will soon be resolved.

How to enable the new feature on your Xbox?

For the time being, Xbox insiders will be able to activate this new feature in the Additional settings menu. All you need to do is check "turn off the sound of the TV speakers when the headset is connected" to activate it. It will probably take several weeks before it is available to all users outside the insider program.

In addition to correcting this problem with helmets, Xbox has also added a new option for insiders to "Audio Tests and details". This will work in a similar way to the video test option that allows you to know, for example, whether your TV is compatible with Dolby Vision technology or a cooling frequency 120 Hz at 4K (requires an HDMI 2.1 port). This way, you will now know if your TV is compatible with different audio formats and settings such as the Dolby Atmos or the Dolby Digital surround.

Finally, this update also brings a new accessibility feature: colour colour filters. This will allow the filters to be applied throughout the Xbox, not just on certain games. So you should also be able to enjoy it by watching a movie or browsing the menus. Xbox also announced new games for its Game Pass at the end of the year, including age of Empire 4 and Forza 5.
